Farm / Rural Roots Farmer Showcase
Farm Type: Historic Garden and Farmstead
Region
NorthTown
Glenevis areaJoin us at the beautiful George Pegg Botanic Garden for a day of fun and celebration of all things rural.
In early 2019, a dedicated group of local food enthusiasts and farmers got the bright idea to build a sustainable, resilient local food community in north-west Alberta to connect local people to their roots and farm fresh food. We chose a beautiful, historic outdoor location to gather local farmers and other food providers, food artisans, and food enthusiasts.
10:00AM- 4:00PM. Come to the outdoor market to meet our local farmers and artisans and hear about their passion for growing food. You’ll find a wide selection of farm vendors, demonstrations & tours, plus children’s activities, and delicious food for sale from Momma Bear’s Food Truck. Free admission to the market. Reserve your place for these paid activities: Mushroom Foraging Walk, Using Wild Herbs Demonstration, & Growing Edible Mushrooms Outdoors. Between noon to 2:00PM, book a horse & wagon ride.
5:30PM-8:30PM. Indulge in a mouth-watering meal made from local ingredients. This is casual outdoor dining. The cash bar includes an eclectic selection of wine, beer, and spirits. The four talented local musicians making up the band Never Too Late are sure to get your toes tapping and your heart singing. Tying the evening together, our MC shares stories about this agricultural community, our producers, and a bit of history. It’s the perfect way to spend a summer evening with friends and family. The portal to buy your dinner tickets online is open now!
