Custom Woolen Mills is a small, family owned and operated woolen mill located near Carstairs, Alberta, Canada. Using sheep’s wool purchased from local farmers and turn-of-the-century industrial revolution machinery, we produce carded wool, yarns, machine knit socks, 100% wool fill bedding, and hand-knit garments. Come tour through the mill and learn how wool from the farm becomes clothing, see some of our historic machinery in action, walk through our natural dye plant garden, shop our little gift shop, or try your hand at needle felting – a fun wool craft for kids and adults alike!
Be sure to dress appropriately for your trip to the country; the tour of the mill and the gift shop are indoors, but everything else is outside. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring a hat if its sunny. If it is raining, you may want rubber boots and a raincoat – our parking lot can get a bit muddy.
