We are excited to be showing off the farm for our second year of open farm days. Big changes have happened since last year as we have finished our farm store and now are offering fresh produce, eggs as well as local beef and pork that is raised right here in the foothills. Alongside some local artisan vendors showing off their craftsmanship and giftware. The farm has Highland cattle (with newly born calves on their side) as well as chickens, ducks, goats, and horses mixed in with large gardens
The Hartell Homestead has become known as a great place to learn about where your food comes from and buy truly local. Our highland cows are always a highlight for our guests but everyone enjoys seeing the chickens, ducks as well as large garden spaces. we also will have a grain field growing that we planted with horses and will be our feed for the livestock the following season. Overall whether it's your first time or you're a regular the homestead is constantly changing and growing.
We will be offering farm tours that will give you the chance to come get up close with all the animals and learn more about how things are run.
It's a great place to bring the family and bring home some great local products.
Paulette and Rennie Sparks are the owners and developers of Wild Country Gardens, Rennie homesteaded our property and all the work put into our farm has been completed by us right down to clearing the land. Our plan was to build something that we could use for retirement income and still enjoy it as our paradise. In doing this we have developed an atmosphere that is visitor friendly which is so peaceful and amazing to see. We have one of the largest variety of fruit trees and berry bushes and vegetable gardens which we harvest yearly. Our newest venture is growing herbal mints and herbs which we use for making leaf teas.
We have a commercial kitchen on our farm where we make our own products that we sell in our farm store. The farm is decorated with a display of our area's history and is a must-see.
We will be offering a tour of our farm, that includes our orchard, tea patches, and gardens.
After the tour, you can visit our Farm Store where all products sold are made by us or locally sourced.
We offer a shopping experience with local vendors in our market area.
