Alberta Open Farm Days is a weekend that brings Albertans together, and we want you to be our guest. You’ll come away knowing your rural neighbours a little bit better and how food gets from the farm to your table.
On August 18th and 19th local chefs from across the province will team up with Alberta producers to offer a memorable series of culinary experiences. This year’s culinary events include something for everyone. Choose one of the great events listed below and enjoy the tastes of Alberta agriculture.
124 Grand Market: Grand Taste Tour 2018

A guided tour of agricultural farms and facilities in the Wildwood area of AB. Tour partners include Wild Country Gardens, Stonepost Farms, Camola, as well as other local farms. The day ends with a farm to fork dinner out in the pastures of Stonepost farm under prairie skies by nationally acclaimed chef Eric Hanson and his team from Prairie Noodle Shop utilizing ingredients from our tour partners.

Join us on Sunday, August 19th as we celebrate Alberta Open Farm days with the Old Red Barn - located just minutes outside of Leduc, Alberta. What better place to feature Alberta dairy than on an Alberta dairy farm! We'll be presenting a five course menu centered on beautiful dairy and cheese products from local producers. Tickets are $90 each + GST, alcoholic beverages not included (but available on site).
Campfire Breakfast & Cattle Drive at Flying Cross Ranch

Have you ever wondered what life was like in the days of cowboys and cattle drives.
Long hours in the saddle and sleeping under the stars.
Every successful cattle drive, “ has to have a good wagon and a good cook to keep people together, to keep people going”
Get a little taste of the cowboy life by joining us for Cowboy breakfast and cattle drive.
You will have the chance to try your hand at roping then saddle up and chase some cows. There are opportunities for beginner riders to experience horse back riding. No experience necessary.
When the work is done we will enjoy hot coffee cooked over the fire and a breakfast created from ingredients grown and raised right on our ranch.
This experience is so much more than just breakfast, you will leave with memories that will last a lifetime.

Farm 2 Fork Dinner with YYC Growers and Distributors and Prairie Dog

Join us as we partner with YYC Growers and Distributors to present you a Farm 2 Table experience during Open Farm Days 2018! Farm Party at Prairie Gardens - A Farm to Table Dinner

You will begin your night with welcome canapés, cooked over a wood fire grill, before joining proprietor Tam Andersen for an exploratory farm tour. Then we'll settle down for a five-course dinner at our long table, set up in one of Prairie Gardens' beautiful greenhouses. We'll be serving a menu chosen to highlight the diversity of delicious produce, herbs and flowers that we have just explored. And to accompany Tam's hand picked bounty we'll be choosing a selection of sea foods from our friends at locally owned and sustainability focused Ocean Odyssey Inland as well as locally sourced poultry and meats.

Kneehill County Agricultural Service Board is hosting: The Growing Kneehill Long Table Dinner at Horseshoe Canyon. Surrounded by the breathtaking views, participants will experience an amazing culinary dinner prepared by top chefs showcasing local farm food products and producers. We will be hosting a Farm to Fork, casual dinner experience using locally sourced ingredients. Some from local farms in the region and some from our local Farmers Market. Join us for Alberta Open Farm Days 2018. Come with us on a Good Morning Tour of Happy Acres U-Pick. Enjoy a homemade light breakfast prepared by us and made from many of the farm fresh ingredients in our gardens. Then walk and talk with us on a garden tour that takes approximatley 45 minutes through our 8 acres of chemical free-garden area, animal area and yard. Hear our story, see what and how we grow our chemical-free vegetables and fruit. Meet many of Happy Acres animals and have a unique experience. After our walking tour you are welcome to U-Pick in the calm, quiet garden and receive a 10% discount on your items. Your U-Pick experience can continue until you would like! We are open to the general public at 10am.
