High Tea on the Farm and Sourdough Bread Making and Baking 101 - The Farm with the Good Food
In or near:
Red Deer County
Come and enjoy High Tea on the farm served up in vintage mismatched china. You will have your choice of either a saucer of fresh baked sweets or a savory one made up of a frikandel, (Danish meatball) rodkal (braised red cabbage) and 100% wild yeast sourdough focaccia to go with your choice of tea or coffee.
No reservations needed as we have put a casual spin on this age old tradition with tables set up under the beautiful mature trees in the yard. Come anytime during the day and grab a little table for 2 or sit at one of the communal tables and chat with your neighbor whilst soaking up the farm atmosphere. Children are also welcome as there is a play area with a slide, swings and farm tours all throughout the two days.
I will also have my portable kitchen trailer parked in the yard and will be baking up sourdough on site all day. Learn the benefits of a long cold ferment - a process that not only leads to the most exceptional tasting bread but also uses a wild yeast to allow you to digest it better. I encourage you to take home a jar of my starter to begin your sourdough journey of baking your own bread.
Of course there will be samples of sourdough complete with home churned cultured butter, spreads and compotes sweetened with dates as opposed to sugar. Susan and I share the same passion for scratch cooking and will have a big pot of steaming soup on the stove to serve up each day until it is gone with your sourdough samples.
This farm is also the home of HolmeHus Antiques so there is shopping!! The store accepts cash, credit card and cheques. No debit so come prepared as you are sure to find a treasure or at the very least, pick up a dozen farm fresh eggs also being sold as farmgate sales.
