Alberta Open Farm Days is a weekend that brings Albertans together, and we want you to be our guest. You’ll come away knowing your rural neighbours a little bit better and how food gets from the farm to your table.
On August 15th and 16th local chefs from across the province will team up with Alberta producers to offer a memorable series of culinary experiences. This year’s culinary events include something for everyone. Choose one of the great events listed below and enjoy the tastes of Alberta agriculture.
Free horse back rides, ice cream making, butter churning, farm animal petting zoo, barrel train, roping practice, crop trials, weeds, horticultural info, bee keeping, farm safety demo, and other things not as yet finalized. A bus tour.
Alberta Prairie Fruit, Enjoy the country! Come out and visit us, Wagon rides in the orchard followed by wine tasting. Learn about prairie fruits, bees and bats. Demonstrations and crafts for kids and adults, Live music. Lunch available. Ultimate breakfast Sunday am. Trails to wonder, lots to see, Samples of our fruit products. We will be hosting farmer golf, participants use the untamed farm land and gold over 10 acres of unaltered farm land. Obstacles include cow patties, cows, barb wire, gophers the usual stuff you find on a farm. We will also be reverse flowing pork and serving it on a bun to the public in our new even building.
Saturday August 15: Paint Night in the Orchard - Enjoy a light and elegant, finger-food dinner featuring fruit fresh from the orchard. Art Tree Studios will be on-site, leading the creative process...no experience required! The setting overlooks the Blindman Valley and the evening will conclude as the sun sets and the lights come out!
Sunday August 16 will be tours in the orchard, complete with samples, straight from the trees, and the opportunity to purchase fruit, snacks, preserves and more.
What would it be like if we visited a farm that helped reverse climate change? If the food we ate helped heal the environment, and ourselves?
It would be delicious. Come engage in a new way of thinking about food, farming and our place in the world. Regenerative farming goes far beyond sustainability. Hands-on "do to learn" activities: children's potato digging, growing vegetables, and farm fun with crop mazes, petting farm, and our farm lunch and drink. $$: train ride, veggies, food and drink.
We will be opening our farm up for anyone and everyone to come and see what we do. We will have: hay wagon tour, garden walks, kids activity area including mini petting zoo, new this year we will have amazing Mel from The Northern Table on site with prepared hot food to purchase, and market tent set up to purchase products. Did we mention that there are endless picnic locations?! Come and meet the farmers and learn where your food comes from. For ages 0-10
Join us in August when more than 80 farms, ranches and ag-tourism operators open their gates and invite visitors to share in local stories, see on-farm demonstrations and purchase locally grown and produced products.
